Several members of the Marble Falls High School girls soccer team were recognized for their play by District 26-4A head coaches.
Sophomore Taylor Brydon was named the co-Goalkeeper of the Year and junior Sidney Solomon was named the co-Utility Player of the Year.
Brydon had 11 saves during the 1-1 tie against San Antonio Davenport Feb. 6. The Lady Wolves won the Class 4A Division I Region IV championship and lost to eventual state champion Salado in the state semifinals.
Against Fischer Canyon Lake, Brydon had 10 saves March 10. Only a penalty kick late in the match gave the Lady Hawks the win.
“She’s a big reason why we were so close in all of those games,” head coach Marisa Miller said. “She went up against offenses that have Division I players in a lot of strong offenses. As a sophomore, it’s especially a huge accomplishment. “
Solomon earned the district award because she fit the definition of its meaning.
“Utility player is someone who has played a bunch of different roles for your team, someone that you’ve been able to kind of put into different spots, and they were able to get the job done,” Miller said. “Sidney was that for us. She had two assists and two goals in district. But a lot of hers came from the defensive roles she took for us. Sidney isn’t an attacking player. She’s a very good offensive player, but we actually had to use her in quite a bit of defensive roles in certain games. And Sidney was the person we stuck on the other team’s dominant players to help us control and shut them down.”

Senior captain Dulce Macias was named to the first team for the second year.
“She’s been our leading scorer and our No. 1 striker for the past two years,” the coach said. “This year in district, she had eight goals. She started and played in all 12 of the (matches). She scored the tying goal against Davenport. she also scored against Fredericksburg, which had us tied until the very end (2-1 loss March 6). They got a (penalty kick). She had six goals against Bandera.”
Junior captain Suzie Perez was named to the second team.
“She plays a huge role for us on this team,” Miller said. “She’s a great central midfielder. She played a lot of different roles for us defensively again this year, which I think contributed a lot to us being able to control the ball. But she would play (the) holding midfielder, helping us defend, and then she would get up in the attack. She’s just a strong athlete, a really good leader on the field in the middle.”
Honorable mention went to senior Giselle Hernandez and juniors Madi Hardaway and Katie Terrell.
The coach called Hernandez “a senior leader on the back line, and that back line changed so many times. But she was constantly one of our strong backs. She played every single game and she did a great job helping us get our back line situated and give us a little bit of confidence as we were trying to figure things out.”
Though Hardaway was a wing, she often was moved to holding midfielder “in some of our bigger games to help us control the middle,” the coach said.
“She really came into her role this year in helping out not only offensively, but shutting down a lot of the strong wings on the other teams,” she said.
Terrell played center back.
“She did a great job,” Miller said. “She had a very difficult role this year. We had to switch up our back line five different times in district, and she was just a consistent force back there. She had to be a leader with some of these younger players that had to fill in. She was a key part of our defense in shutting down these powerful offenses.”
Senior Cali Brydon was named academic all-state by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
